Female Support Worker – Fixed Term position

• $27.48–$29.68 per hour, based on NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 3 or Level 4) or recognised equivalent.
• Fixed term until 7th June 2027

About the Role

As a Support Worker, you’ll play an important role in supporting disabled people to build everyday skills, achieve personal goals, and participate actively in their communities.

Working as part of a collaborative team, you’ll provide person-directed support that promotes choice, independence, and wellbeing while respecting each person’s strengths, culture, and aspirations.

This role is ideal for someone who believes in a “do with, not for” approach and understands that great support is about empowering people to build confidence and lead meaningful lives.

Your responsibilities may include:

• Supporting daily living skills and independence
• Encouraging community participation and meaningful relationships
• Assisting with personal care, household tasks, meal preparation, and routines
• Supporting people to achieve their individual goals and develop new skills
• Understanding Behaviour Support strategies and  while promoting wellbeing
• Working collaboratively with whānau, colleagues, and other professionals
• Maintaining accurate records and documentation
• This is a full-time, fixed-term position until the 7th July 2027 (73.75 hours per fortnight) with a variety of shifts, including weekends, sleepovers, wakeovers, and public holidays.

Due to the personal care requirements and to respect the privacy, dignity, and preferences of the person receiving support, we are seeking female applicants for this position. This is a genuine occupational requirement for this specific role.

What you’ll bring

We’re looking for someone who is compassionate, resilient, and passionate about supporting people to achieve their goals.

Essential:

• Full New Zealand Driver’s Licence
• Experience supporting people with disabilities and/or mental health needs
• Sound understanding of Positive Behaviour Support, behaviour modification, and skill development
• Commitment to person-directed practice and a “do with, not for” philosophy
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• Confidence using Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
• Legal right to work in New Zealand
• Level 3 or 4 Qualification in Health and Wellbeing
